Use case: spare parts
Part numbers, typed the way mechanics type them.
Parts shoppers search by number: OEM codes, MPNs and supplier references, often copied from an invoice with odd spacing. Gazelle treats those codes as identifiers, not words.
Example searches
“1K0 615 301”
Brake disc 1K0615301
“bosch 0986”
Bosch parts starting with 0986
Every number field
Index SKU, OEM number, MPN and EAN together. A match on any of them finds the part, and exact matches rank first.
- Dashes, dots and spaces ignored
- Partial codes match while typing
- Brand plus number in one search
Filters for fitment
Make, model and year stored as attributes become filters on the results page.
Know which numbers fail
Zero-result searches show the part numbers shoppers looked for that you don't stock, or stock under a different number. Add a synonym and the old number finds the new part.
Questions
- Can one part have several numbers?
- Yes. Put cross-reference numbers in a custom field and list it in settings; each number finds the part.
