Made for WooCommerce
- Variable products
- Every variation SKU is searchable, and variation attributes become filters.
- Attributes and custom fields
- Global and custom attributes, plus any product meta you list, like a model number.
- Your theme, your shortcodes
- Works with your theme's search box, the [gazellesearch] shortcode, the widget and Elementor.
- Classic and block checkout
- Orders are credited to search from the server, so revenue reports work with both checkouts.
- Recommendations
- “You may also like” under products and a [gazelle_recommendations] shortcode for anywhere else.
- Never a dead search box
- If Gazelle can't be reached, the plugin falls back to WordPress search automatically.

Questions
Why doesn't WooCommerce search find SKUs?
WooCommerce's built-in search looks at the product title, content and excerpt. SKUs, and especially variation SKUs, live in product meta, so they aren't matched. Gazelle indexes them.
Does it slow down my database?
No. Searches are answered by Gazelle's servers, not by MySQL queries on your hosting. The plugin only talks to your database when products change.
Which versions are supported?
WordPress 6.5 or newer with PHP 8.0 or newer and WooCommerce active. Tested up to WordPress 7.1 and WooCommerce 11.2.
Can I keep using my theme's search form?
Yes. The plugin upgrades the search boxes your theme already has. You can also place the [gazellesearch] shortcode, the widget or the Elementor block.
How is this different from my store's built-in search?
Built-in search matches exact words in the title. Gazelle forgives typos, understands SKUs with or without dashes, searches variants, attributes and custom fields, suggests categories, and answers while the shopper is still typing.
Will it slow my store down?
No. Searches run on Gazelle's servers, not your hosting. The storefront script is a single small file with no dependencies, loaded asynchronously.
Does it work with my theme?
Yes. The script attaches to the search box your theme already has. On WordPress you can also use the shortcode, widget or Elementor block; on Shopify, the theme app block.
